The Road to Canterbury

The Tourney

musicians

The Road to Canterbury ends in Challenge!

Enthusiasts of the Heavy List are called upon to strengthen their arm and advance their skill, and to prepare throughout the summer for an autumn pilgrimage to Canterbury!

Opportunities for glory abound at the Crossroads; for there it is decreed shall be held a Grand Tournament to honour our King and Queen; and from whence shall issue Their future Champions. Two names will be written into history that day; as the Victor takes his place at the King’s side, so shall the Chosen stand forth for our Faire Queen.

Traditional in nature, yet inspired by the Tales, this Champions’ Tournament will follow a double-elimination format, while featuring active heraldry and the participation of watching pilgrims.  Indeed, to win all possible honours of the day, combatants must not only prove mighty in arms, but also to possess equal merit of character, for the watching populace will be called upon to cast tokens for those who are the proudest examples of Valour, Performance and Appearance in the lists, among other distinctions.

Schedule

The Tournament is scheduled for Saturday, the 15thArms Inspections shall take place from 9:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m.  All
combatants must have registered for the tournament with the Mistress of the Lists no later than 10:30 a.m.  The tournament will commence upon conclusion of Inspections and Registration.

Logistics

There is a moderate distance between the parking area and the List Field/Camping Area on the site. On Friday we will be allowing people to drive down to the field, drop off their camping gear, and then requiring them to return their vehicles to the parking area before setting up. NO VEHICLES will be allowed to stay on the field for any extended period of time. On Saturday morning, the same procedure will be in effect. However, due to the high amount of expected traffic on Saturday morning we are asking that gentles who do not need to drive down to the field carry their items down instead. Once the Tournament begins on Saturday morning, NO VEHICLES will be allowed down onto the field.

Questions about or interest in any element of the Tournament should currently be directed to the Marshal-in-Charge:
