The Road to Canterbury

Crossroads at Canterbury
proudly hosting the
 King's and Queen's Champions of Arms Tournament

Pilgrims

From Tavern Yard to Tourney Field, to a feast fit for kings;
Stroll through time in the Courtyard Faire, where children's laughter rings;
Where merchants fine display proud wares, the Craftsmen build and the
Jongleur sings;
'Round the campfire, or in the Hall, we'll listen to stories told
Of Ages past and distant lands, of Heroes strong and bold.

The Shire of Quintavia, in partnership with our neighboring Baronies of
Bergental and Carolingia, would like to announce the Crossroads at
Canterbury event, to be held September 14-16, 2007, at Camp Marshall
(Worcester County 4H Center, Inc.), located at 92 McCormick Road, Spencer,
MA 01562.

Inspired by those famous tales of Chaucer's, we shall craft an event worthy
of our Current Middle Ages.  For 48 hours, Pilgrims from *all* times and
places shall be invited so sample succulent tidbits from the Canterbury
Tales, as we offer them a warm, hospitable environment for camping,
feasting, fighting and play (and let's not forget shopping!).

Resources

As much as possible, we would like to enable our participants to experience the flavor of Chaucer's England. As this is an SCA event, it is open to anyone willing to make an attempt at medieval clothing and no one will be turned away for not having the correct kit for the time period. However, you will enjoy it more if you do a little research. Becaue the SCA is participatory, we are all adding to the atmosphere for one another so your contribution to the whole experience helps. We've organized our resources into the following major areas:

Chaucer and the Canterbury Tales
Daily Life (what to wear, eat, do, think...)
What's going on in England in the 14th century

Classes and Workshops

There are some excellent classes on 14th century and Chaucerian topics at the upcoming Bergental Novice Schola., including clothing, music, embroidery, historic events, and how to interpret Chaucer.  Check out the schedule!
